About
Andrea Barbour
Prior to beginning private practice, I spent eight years working first as a staff member and then as a director for a nonprofit organization in Africa. My time spent living and working overseas has given me a unique perspective on the multiple ways we seek connection and fulfillment.
I believe that everything about our lives, from childhood to present day matters and has a profound influence on the way we are in the world. My collaborative, relational approach helps me see life experiences and relationships from your perspective. Together we are able to create new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving that enable you to enjoy your life and relationships in more satisfying ways.
My clinical training, combined with my work overseas has prepared me to work with individuals, couples and families from a wide range of diverse sexual and religious, as well as non-religious backgrounds.
Additionally I also have extensive specialized, post-masters training in providing treatment to help individuals (children, adolescents and adults) and couples address feelings of disconnection and distress using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Clinical Hypnosis.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from CTS with a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and was awarded the Pastoral Theology and Psychology Achievement Award recognizing my clinical and academic work with distressed individuals and couples.
